2 STEP DIY:
R
ECYCLING boy's trunks for a girl

What you Need:
1. trunks
2. ribbon
3. elastic
4. scissors

STEP 1.  Cut an opening on the inside of the hem
                                      big enough to fit
your elastic and small enough to not show on the outside hem. Thread your elastic in the hem which is now your casing, and stitch ends
together , or for no sew, tie a small tight knot at the ends. Tuck the elastic ends inside your hem casing. I like to close it with a few stitches. You can also use a zig zag stitch with matching thread to tack the opening and elastic to the material.

STEP 2. Cut enough ribbon for a small bow. Turning the trunks upside down, tie your ribbon to the criss-cross lace in the eyelets at the waist if present, or remove criss-cross lace and lace your ribbon through the eyes and tie your bow. I like to take a few stitches and secure the ribbon in place so little fingers cannot untie it.
